Our Philosophy
Our goals at Horizon Investment Services are simple:
- Provide a variety of investment management strategies to fit the needs of clients
- Provide outstanding investment results balanced with the appropriate level of risk for each client
- For the equity portions of accounts, consistently beat the S&P 500 and Wilshire 5000 indexes with our strategies
We work toward these goals for every client, keeping in mind each client’s individual investment objectives and risk tolerances.
Our Approach
We look for securities that we believe will deliver outstanding returns without undue risk. To help us accomplish our ultimate goal of customer satisfaction, we utilize several essential tools and strategies:
- Quadrix® — A stock-rating system that screens the universe of U.S. stocks for potential winners. Quadrix is wholly owned by Horizon Publishing Company with whom we have contracted to use Quadrix in our proprietary stock-screening processes. Quadrix has gained recognition within the investment industry for its screening capabilities and computational power. Major investment companies have engaged us specifically to gain the benefit of Quadrix in structuring certain portfolios and indexes. Our institutional consultation services to such organizations currently account for over $1 billion in assets.
- Diversification — We diversify the stock portion of our portfolios among large, mid, and small-cap stocks. We include small-cap holdings because, historically, smaller stocks have provided higher returns than large-cap stocks. This diversification also is designed to help safeguard your portfolio against sector volatility.
- Valuation — We continually revisit a company's valuation. We analyze where a stock is priced relative to what we believe the company can deliver. Undervalued securities rank high on our list of buys.
- Analysis — Our team of research analysts performs hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves analysis on any stock that passes our initial screening.
The Quadrix® stock-rating system is a product wholly-owned by Horizon Publishing Company, Horizon Investment Services' sister company. Horizon Investment Services has contracted with Horizon Publishing Company to use the Quadrix stock-rating system for its stock-screening processes.
